Smuggler’s Enterprises Supports Local Food Banks

So often we hear only negative things happening in our communities, but we would like the opportunity to share something positive.  We realize that many families find the summer months to be especially challenging when it comes to providing food for their children whom normally receive free lunches at school.  Many area food banks are in short supply of food that so many people rely on.  To help our local charities in need, Smuggler’s Enterprise has partnered up with the Charlotte Community Foundation to set up the Smuggler’s Community Foundation.  Our foundation is funded through our corporate donations of .05% of our sales daily from all 5 local Smuggler’s restaurants and our voluntary employee donation program. We have been blessed to have staff members that see the good our foundation does in our community and committed their own funds to help us reach our goals.  Our dedication to our community is the reason we started both donation programs which will enable us to donate a total of $7,500 to seven area food banks including:

  • $1500 Edgewater United Methodist Church
  • $500 First Macedonia
  • $1000 Good Samaritans of Charlotte County
  • $1000 St. Vincent de Paul- St Maximilian
  • $1000 SVDP- San Antonio Conference
  • $1000 Trinity Baptist Church of Punta Gorda
  • $1500 Trinity United Methodist Church

During the week of June 25th Smuggler’s Community Foundation will be presenting checks to local food banks.  These funds will be directly deposited into the Harry Chapin Food Bank accounts so that they can purchase the much needed staples for our community. Smuggler’s Community Foundation has partnered up with the Harry Chapin food bank to secure food with this grant.  We hope that this is the beginning of a mutually beneficial partnership which will continue to help us secure food on a regular basis to meet the needs of our citizens. We have a commitment to our citizens and will continue to support this and many other local charities. If you would like to visit our website, www.smugglerscommunityfoundation.org, you will find a list of many charities we have helped.

If you could be present at any of these check presentations to help us show support to these remarkable charities, please contact me for times and locations. I would be happy to answer any questions concerning this current grant or other aspects of our foundation’s goals.  Thank you so much for helping us promote positive acts in our community. We appreciate your time and attention to this matter and look forward to working with you to send positive information out to our citizens. Together we can strive to encourage other businesses to support our local charities to provide them with the tools they need to keep providing the critical help that they work so hard to provide members of our community.

Sincerely,

Tammy Beck
